My work as an animal communicator began long before Bowie Speaks, but on November 21, 2025, Bowie and I started a new way of sharing that work with the world.
I wanted to approach my purpose in a way that would resonate with animal lovers and pet parents: something warm, approachable, and easy to understand.
Most of all, I wanted to give a voice not just to my beloved Golden Retriever, Bowie, but to all animals.
Because after all, animals want to be heard.
Bowie doesn’t just represent himself or his relationship with me. Through Bowie Speaks, he has come to represent animals of all kinds — beloved pets, wildlife, farm animals, sanctuary residents, and so many others.
Like any new project, I wasn’t sure how Bowie Speaks would be received or whether people would understand what I hoped to create.
One year later, Bowie and I are grateful that our little project has been embraced by a small but mighty community.
And along the way, it has taught me a few things, too.
The Messages Animals Keep Repeating
Every animal communication reading is unique.
The animal, the person, the circumstances, and the questions are always different. But certain themes appear again and again.
One of the most consistent is simple: animals want to be heard.
Think about your own animal for a moment.
What might they want you to know?
Maybe it’s something important. Maybe it’s something surprisingly small. But sometimes having the opportunity to communicate even one little detail can bring a tremendous sense of relief.
I often see shifts when an animal has had the chance to express something that has been weighing on them.
Think about how you feel when you finally say something you’ve been holding inside.
There’s freedom in being heard.
Animals can experience that, too.
The Biggest Messages Are Often the Simplest
Some readings are more intricate than others, but meaningful communication doesn’t always arrive as something dramatic.
Sometimes the message is simply:
I’m okay
I love you
Slow down
Sit with me
I understand more than you think
Stop worrying
I’m still here
As humans, we sometimes expect profound answers.
Animals often bring us back to something beautifully simple.
During a reading, a message may initially seem complicated to me as I work to understand and translate what the animal is sharing. But often, everything eventually comes full circle.
What seemed complex at the beginning may ultimately become something as straightforward as, “I would like a new bed.”
And somehow, that simple request can be exactly what needed to be said.
What Bowie Speaks Has Taught Me
When I decided to turn my dog into the “spokesdog” for Animal Communication with Nora, I didn’t realize Bowie Speaks would influence my own practice.
But it has.
My perspective on animals has expanded.
I always knew I could communicate with dogs, cats, horses, hamsters, and other companion animals. But over time, I’ve found myself thinking differently about farm animals, wildlife, squirrels — and even insects.
Bowie Speaks has given me a way to share the idea that every living being has a perspective of its own.
The messages are inspired by what animals themselves communicate, translated through me, and delivered by one very adorable Golden Retriever avatar.
But the sentiment behind them is real.
Animals value freedom, safety, autonomy, comfort, and dignity.
So, the next time you find a spider in your home, perhaps pause for a moment before reaching for the nearest shoe. She may simply be doing her best to exist in a world that suddenly became very confusing.
And if she could put it into words, she might just be saying, “Can you please take me outside?”
What I Hope Bowie Speaks Gives You
If you take anything away from my blog, emails, social media, or one-on-one readings, I hope it’s this: all animals matter, and each one has something to say.
Maybe over time you’ve noticed a shift in the way you relate to the animals in your life.
Perhaps:
You pause before labeling a behavior
You talk to your animals more
You trust the connection you already share
You notice subtle communication
You recognize that your animals are participating in the relationship, too
And if none of these feels familiar yet, that’s okay.
Connecting with the animals we love is a lifelong process.
You’re already in it.
One Year Later
As I look back on the first year of Bowie Speaks, my thoughts naturally return to the sweet boy who inspired it all.
Bowie’s gentle nature and quirky personality remind me every day that each animal is an individual.
His beginning in life wasn’t ideal, but somehow, he found his way to the life he was meant to have, and to the person he was meant to share it with.
I’m honored to be that person.
And I hope Bowie inspires you to look at your own relationship with animals a little differently — to wonder why they come into our lives, what they may be here to teach us, and what they might be trying to tell us while they’re here.
Every animal has a story.
Sometimes all we have to do is listen.
Here’s to another year of listening.
