Frequently Asked Questions
Animal Communication
What is an animal communicator?
Animal communicators use telepathic abilities to communicate with animals. They can receive messages from animals, interpret their feelings, thoughts, and even communicate with them across distances, either in person or remotely.
How does animal communication work?
Animal communication works through intuitive and telepathic means. An animal communicator opens a telepathic line of communication with an animal to receive impressions, images, feelings, or words. These messages can provide insights into an animal's emotions, behavior, physical well-being, or thoughts.
How can animal communication help me and my pet?
Animal communication can help with:
Understanding your pet’s needs, emotions, or behavior
Resolving behavioral issues or addressing anxiety, stress, or fear
Clarifying any confusion or misunderstandings between you and your pet
Offering guidance for improving the relationship between you and your pet
Assisting with end-of-life decisions, health concerns, or treatments
Is animal communication a form of psychic reading?
Animal communication is considered a form of intuitive or telepathic reading. It involves understanding and interpreting subtle energy, emotions, and thoughts, which may not always be consciously accessible through normal human means. Think of it this way: an animal communicator connects to the soul or mind of an animal while a psychic reading interprets the animal’s energy.
Can you communicate with animals who have passed away?
Yes, animal communicators can connect with the spirit of animals who have crossed over. They can relay messages from deceased animals, offering comfort or closure to their human companions.
Will an animal communicator be able to "fix" my pet’s behavior?
While an animal communicator can provide insights into why your pet is acting a certain way and suggest possible solutions, the ultimate responsibility for behavior change usually requires the cooperation of the pet owner, along with training, consistency, and sometimes professional behavior interventions.
How do I prepare for a session with an animal communicator?
Have clear questions or concerns in mind about your pet
Provide the animal communicator with basic details (pet’s name, species, age, etc.)
Be open-minded and allow for unexpected messages or insights that might come through
Relax and trust the process
Do I need to be present during a session with my pet?
It depends on the session type. Some animal communicators work in-person with the animal, while others can communicate remotely. You can provide background information or concerns before the session, and the communicator can tune into your pet from anywhere.
Can you talk to any animal, even wild animals?
Yes, animal communicators can connect with both domestic and wild animals. However, communication with wild animals may be different from pets, as wild animals are more independent and less accustomed to human interaction.
What kind of messages do animals send?
Animals may convey a variety of messages, including:
Emotional states (fear, happiness, sadness, anxiety)
Physical discomfort or illness
Specific requests (e.g., more playtime, attention, changes in routine)
Reassurances, love, or gratitude to their human companions
Can animal communication help with health problems or veterinary issues?
While an animal communicator can provide insight into a pet’s condition and may describe symptoms, they do not diagnose illnesses. However, they can suggest areas for further exploration and encourage pet owners to consult with a veterinarian for a medical diagnosis.
How accurate is animal communication?
Accuracy can vary from communicator to communicator and situation to situation. Many factors influence the communication, including the animal's openness to communicate and the animal communicator’s experience and skill level. Some communicators offer follow-up sessions to clarify or refine the information received.
What should I expect during a session?
During a session, the animal communicator will likely ask you to provide some basic information about your pet, such as the name, breed, and any specific concerns or issues you're facing. She will then connect with your pet and relay any messages, insights, or answers that come through. The session may also involve questions from the communicator to clarify what your pet is experiencing or trying to communicate.
How long does a session last?
Animal communication sessions typically last between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the depth of the inquiry and the number of pets involved.
How much does an animal communication session cost?
Prices vary widely depending on the animal communicator’s experience, location, and the length of the session. Sessions can range from $75 to $200 or more.
Can animals communicate with each other?
Yes, animals can communicate with each other, often through body language, vocalizations, or energy exchange. Animal communicators may tune into the energy or thought patterns of animals to interpret what they are trying to communicate to other animals.
Do you offer group or multiple pet sessions?
Some animal communicators offer sessions for multiple animals in the same household, though the time and cost may vary depending on how many pets are involved. Animal Communication with Nora will communicate with any animal during the time you have scheduled, although suggests limiting the number to guarantee that all animals can be heard. These sessions can address issues with group dynamics, inter-animal communication, or overall household harmony.
Is animal communication a form of animal training?
No, animal communication is not the same as animal training. While a communicator may offer insights into why a pet is behaving a certain way, training typically involves teaching an animal specific behaviors and actions through reinforcement and repetition.
Can animal communication help locate lost pets?
Yes, animal communication can potentially assist in finding lost pets. However, Animal Communication with Nora does not offer this service for several reasons. If you're seeking help with a lost pet, we recommend searching online for an animal communicator who specializes in this area. Keep in mind that the communicator doesn’t need to be nearby to establish a connection with your pet.
How often should I seek animal communication sessions for my pet?
The frequency of animal communication sessions can vary depending on your specific needs and goals with your pet or animal. You may see an animal communicator for an initial visit, ongoing maintenance, during major life events, for special needs, or to support end of life transitions.
Do you work with animals who have experienced trauma or abuse?
Yes, I have worked with several clients whose pets have experienced trauma prior to adoption. My approach focuses on understanding the animal’s past to help prevent triggers and manage heightened responses. Additionally, I’ve collaborated with a local animal sanctuary to gain insight into their animals' histories, identify specific traumas, and develop appropriate treatment plans moving forward.

Human Reiki
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, energy-based healing practice that promotes relaxation and balance. It originated in Japan. The word “Reiki” comes from the Japanese words “Rei” (universal) and “Ki” (life energy). Reiki practitioners channel universal life energy to promote healing, balance, and relaxation in the recipient. It is believed to help harmonize the body, mind, and spirit.
How does Reiki work?
Reiki works by channeling universal life energy (or "ki") to the recipient. The practitioner uses her hands, either lightly resting on or near the recipient’s body, to help clear energy blockages, restore balance, and promote healing. Reiki is based on the idea that life energy flows through all living things, and if this energy is blocked or out of balance, it can lead to physical or emotional issues. It supports the body's natural ability to heal itself.
What does a Reiki session look like?
During a typical Reiki session, you’ll lie fully clothed on a comfortable massage table. The practitioner will place her hands lightly on or just above various areas of your body, such as the head, shoulders, stomach, and feet. You may experience sensations like warmth, tingling, or deep relaxation. Each hand position is held for a few minutes. The session is quiet and relaxing, often accompanied by soft music. Many people report feeling warmth, tingling, or deep calm. The session typically lasts about 60 to 90 minutes.
What does Reiki feel like?
Reiki can feel different for everyone, but common sensations include:
Warmth or heat: Some people feel a soothing warmth from the practitioner’s hands
Tingling or vibrations: This can indicate that energy is being released or balanced
Relaxation: Many people report a deep sense of calm, peace, and relaxation
Emotional release: It’s possible to feel emotional or experience a release of old emotions during a session
How can Reiki help?
Reiki can support the healing of a wide range of physical, emotional, and spiritual issues. Some common uses include:
Stress reduction and relaxation
Pain management
Emotional healing (e.g., anxiety, depression, grief)
Boosting immune system function
Balancing energy in the body
Improving sleep quality
Enhancing personal growth and spiritual development
It can be used alongside other medical treatments, but it’s important to consult with your healthcare provider if you have any concerns.
Can Reiki be used alongside traditional medical treatments?
Yes, Reiki is considered a complementary therapy, meaning it can be used alongside conventional medical treatments. It does not replace medical care but can be an excellent support for managing stress, pain, and promoting overall well-being.
Can Reiki heal mental health conditions like anxiety or depression?
Reiki can be helpful for managing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and other emotional imbalances by promoting relaxation and releasing blocked energy. It can support mental health treatment, but it should not replace professional care for serious mental health conditions. Many people use Reiki alongside psychotherapy, counseling, or medication as part of a holistic approach.
Is Reiki safe?
Yes, Reiki is generally considered very safe. It is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that promotes healing without causing harm. It has no known side effects, although some people may feel tired or emotional after a session as they process the energy.
What should I wear to a Reiki session?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to relax completely. Since Reiki is done fully clothed, there's no need to undress. You may also want to remove shoes, belts, and heavy jewelry to enhance your comfort.
How long do the effects of a Reiki session last?
The effects of Reiki can vary. Some people feel immediate results, such as increased energy or reduced pain, while others may experience a gradual improvement over time. The benefits often continue after the session, and some people report feeling more balanced or peaceful for days or even weeks after their Reiki treatment.
What should I do after a Reiki session?
After a Reiki session, it’s recommended to drink plenty of water to help flush out any toxins released during the session. You may also feel emotionally sensitive or tired, so it's important to rest and allow yourself time to integrate the healing energy. Journaling or meditating can be helpful to process the experience.
Are there any side effects from a Reiki session?
Reiki is generally considered very safe with minimal risk of side effects. Some people may feel tired, emotional, or experience temporary changes in sleep or digestion as the body rebalances. These effects are typically mild and short-lived. Most clients report feeling deeply relaxed and peaceful after a session.
Can Reiki be performed at a distance?
Yes, Reiki can be performed remotely through a process known as distant Reiki. In this method, the practitioner uses their intention to send healing energy to someone who is not physically present. Many people report feeling the effects of distant Reiki just as strongly as in-person sessions.
Are there different types of Reiki?
Yes, there are several styles of Reiki. The most widely practiced is Usui Reiki, which forms the foundation of most modern Reiki techniques. Other types include Karuna Reiki®, Jikiden Reiki, and Holy Fire® Reiki. Each has its own emphasis or methods, but all share the same goal: to promote healing and balance.
Does insurance cover Reiki?
Most insurance plans do not currently cover Reiki, although some flexible spending or health savings accounts (FSA/HSA) may allow it. It's a good idea to check with your insurance provider or benefits administrator to confirm what's covered under your specific plan.
Is Reiki spiritual or religious?
Reiki is spiritual in nature but not religious. It involves working with energy and promoting healing, but it does not require any specific beliefs, doctrines, or religious affiliations. Reiki can complement any faith or personal philosophy and is accessible to people of all backgrounds.
How often should I receive Reiki?
The frequency of sessions depends on your goals and needs. Some people benefit from weekly or bi-weekly sessions, especially during times of stress or illness. Others find monthly sessions ideal for ongoing maintenance and self-care. We’ll work with you to create a schedule that supports your personal healing journey.
Do I need to believe in Reiki for it to work?
You do not need to have any particular belief in Reiki for it to be effective. Reiki works whether you believe in it or not because it is based on the flow of universal life energy. Some people may feel more benefit if they are open to the experience, but belief is not a requirement.
Can Reiki be used on animals or plants?
Yes! Reiki can be used on animals, plants, and even spaces. Animals are often very receptive to Reiki energy, and it can help them heal from physical or emotional trauma. For more information about animal Reiki, check out this page. Similarly, Reiki can be used to promote plant health or to cleanse and balance the energy of spaces.
The History of Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique that promotes balance, relaxation, and holistic well-being. Its roots trace back to the early 20th century, when it was developed by Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist scholar and spiritual seeker.
In 1922, after a 21-day meditation retreat on Mount Kurama in Japan, Usui experienced a profound spiritual awakening. This experience gave him the ability to channel healing energy through his hands, which he calledReiki—a word meaning “universal life energy” (from “Rei” meaning universal or spiritual and “Ki” meaning life force or energy).
Usui began teaching Reiki healing and treating people throughout Japan. His method emphasized spiritual development, personal growth, and hands-on energy healing. Before his death in 1926, Usui trained several Reiki Masters, including Chujiro Hayashi, a former naval officer who played a crucial role in systematizing Reiki practices and making them more accessible.
Hayashi went on to open a Reiki clinic in Tokyo and trained Hawayo Takata, a Japanese-American woman from Hawaii. After receiving successful treatment for chronic illness, Takata became a passionate advocate of Reiki and brought the practice to the West in the late 1930s. Through Takata’s work, Reiki spread throughout the United States and eventually around the world.
Today, Reiki continues to evolve, but its core principles—healing through energy, intention, and compassion—remain unchanged. It is practiced in a wide range of settings, from private sessions to hospitals, and has become a respected form of complementary healing in many cultures.
